Inter Milan’s Javier Zanetti croons on Indonesia Idol
If you had the misfortune of sitting through some ear-perforating performances on Saturday night, courtesy of the Eurovision Song Contest, you may want to give this late contender a miss.
What do you give a man who has won everything in the club game? A crack at singing stardom on Indonesia Idol, that’s what.
For no rhyme or reason, Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti turned up on the reality music show at the weekend and we won’t be forgetting it in a while.
After making a tentative start the Argentinean stalwart began singing an Italian ballad without any instrumental backing, a musical maverick from the very beginning. That silence was thankfully broken by a clapping audience and some impromptu bass guitar from the house band.
The illusion that Zanetti may have the crowd in the palm of his hands is sadly punctured however when a cut to the crowd reveals several people quite rightly in hysterics.
Fair play to Javier though, he illustrated some savvy brand awareness by performing in an Inter tracksuit and certainly showed Jamie Carragher a thing or two when it comes to showing commitment and desire on this regrettable show franchise.
