The annual Soccer Aid charity match took place at Old Trafford on Sunday (an intriguing combination of celebrities and world football legends) and it served up one of the sweetest tackles you are likely to see – a crunching bolt from the blue from former England international Teddy Sheringham.
The recipient was celebrity chef and full-time pillock Gordon Ramsay, who was hit like a ton of titanium-reinforced bricks.
It was a challenge made all the more galling for the Scot thanks to a less than welcome playful slap to the face just seconds later. Ramsey had to seek hospital treatment but yesterday stated there was no lasting damage. Sherringham has lived the dream as a player, donning the national shirt and winning the Champions League but this uncompromising clash has to top them all.
