School bans football after Euro 2012 causes playground punch-ups
With Poland and Ukraine playing host to a rather good-natured championships, it has fallen to a school in Hull to represent the biggest example of Euro 2012-based ill-discipline.
In the past few weeks, the excitement and tensions of the tournament have resulted in several scraps at the Hall Road Primary School, and teachers have responded by banning football until Euro 2012 has finished.
Deputy head teacher Kristina Frary said: “Passions are running high, especially with the Euro 2012 football tournament. Potentially, that’s why children are wound-up.
“We have had a sequence of fall-outs and they were all centred around football. We have decided to have a break.”
The teacher failed to add that little Tommy “is no that kind of player”, but we are sure it must be in her quotes somewhere.
