OTP Euro 2012 Podcast – July 3rd: Torres-ntial Reign
It was historic, it was beautiful to experience and it was perhaps the best display of artistry and invention in our lifetime… the OTP Pod have served up their very last Euro 2012 special.
With the salivary gland on full alert, we dim the lights, undo our top audio button and discuss our complete seduction by Spain.
After trousering Italy 4-0 in the European Chmpionships final, we discuss the following:
- Is Jordi Alba now eligible to run the 100m at this summer’s Olympics?
- Does the array of children at full-time prove that Spain are the most reproductive team in football history?
- Did del Bosque’s men win simply because they have had an ‘unbelievable amount of sex?’
- Is Spain’s vivacious victory more globally important than the 2009 presidential inauguration of Barrack Obama?
With the bloomin’ brilliant Euro 2012 coming to a close, it is also time to hand in our mark sheets for the tournament as a whole. The Pod saunter through UEFA’s team of the tournament, cherish Zlatan Ibrahimovich’s quotes, declare Roy Hodgson a nice man and launch one last passionate monologue about Andrea Pirlo’s luscious locks.
Finally, we bathe in the joy of the last few weeks, quite literally – by recording our last link in Alex’s swimming pool/large bath tub. Disconcerting yet delightful.
Thanks all for taking in our Euro specials, it’s gone quicker than an Andy Carroll bullet-train header.

Despite not playing one second of Euro 2012, Pepe Reina fully merits his medal after this heroic showing – a full-on air steward plane safety routine on Spain’s glorious trip back home. This man has an insatiable desire to save things.
