Ukranian team Goverla begin their season with a wonderful own goal
Your club has been promoted to the top division, and you are away for your first game of the season. The manager sits you down and tells you to just keep it tight for the first half. A point is by no means a disaster, and you can begin to push on in the second period.
Ukranian club Goverla didn’t fancy playing it by the book.By half time they were 3-0 down, and the second goal was a ridiculous own goal scored by centre back Evgen Eliseev, although he can lay some blame at the feet (or head) of his goalkeeper.
Intercepting a pass by sliding to hit it backwards, the Goverla keeper first made up his mind that it would be deemed a backpass (which wasn’t certain by any means), and then having done so managed to completely balls up an attempted header, simply knocking it into his own goal.
Goverla actually managed to get back into the match during the second half, but lost 3-2.
