Manchester United players celebrate as coach driver avoids arrest
Manchester United’s players dedicated a chant to their coach driver after he smooth-talked his way out of trouble with Chinese police.
United’s coach was stopped on a busy road in Shanghai by police after reportedly using the wrong lane. Officers hauled the driver away for questioning.
The coach was surrounded by fans while the driver was being grilled. He returned after around 15 minuntes, much to the delight of the United squad.
He was greeted with chants of: “We’ll drive where we want, we’ll drive where we want, we’re Man United, we’ll drive where we want.”
A club source told the Manchester Evening News: “All the players and the manager thought it was hilarious. They couldn’t believe it.
“I think a lot of other traffic could not get past, so there was a bit of a situation.”
The source added: “I think the driver might have talked himself out of it with the police.
“He got back on the bus and everyone started cheering.”
