Manchester United star Ryan Giggs and his imaginary long, successful Team GB career
Poor old Ryan Giggs.
There comes a time in a footballer’s life when they start to become a bit old and confused. The mind starts playing tricks.
That time appears to be upon 38-year-old Ryan Giggs.
Speaking after he scored his first goal for Great Britain in his first game for them at Wembley – and only his third game for them ever – the Manchester United legend seemed to believe that he had a long and illustrious Team GB career behind him and had bagged plenty of goals for them at Wembley. All of which were special.
Giggs said: “To score for the GB team at Wembley is always special, so yeah, I mean, it was.”
Sure, they’re always special, Ryan. But did last night’s header really compare to the GB goals you scored in the good old days beneath the Twin Towers?
