Ex-Wigan, Birmingham & Blackpool keeper Richard Kingson’s ‘witch’ wife ruined career and made him impotent
Former Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson’s wife has gone on Nigerian TV to claim she used black magic to sabotage his career and make him impotent.
Adelaide Tawiah said her evil powers were used to make Kingson’s life a misery between the sticks and between the sheets.
She said: “I messed up Richard’s life ever since we got married. I used my evil powers to trouble his career.
“I’ve been working on him spiritually, to the point he could not perform in bed.”
Kingson, aged 34, has been without a club since being released by Blackpool last year. But he yesterday went on Facebook to defend his wife of two years.
He wrote: “My wife is not a witch.”
And Adelaide has backtracked ever so slightly since the show was broadcast. She said it was an evil spirit cast out by TV preacher TB Joshua talking, not her.
She said: “I can’t even remember what took place.
“I am not a witch as it has been rumoured. My husband knows how inspirational I have been to him throughout his goalkeeping career.”
Controversy doesn’t seem to be too far from Kingson at the moment. He’s also revealed that he was offered a $300,000 (£187,000) bribe to throw a World Cup match.
Seemingly by way of defending his wife amid the witch claims, he said he rejected the offer, which involved him ensuring a 2-0 win for the Czech Republic in the 2006 World Cup group stage.
Kingson said he “got confused by weighing the options of getting richer by $300,000 after that match, whereas all that I would get in the event of a Ghana victory would be much less – just $3,000”.
Speaking to a church in Nigeria, the former Wigan keeper said: “In the 2006 World Cup in Germany, we were about to play Czech Republic. By then they were the second best in the world.
“A Ghanaian led me to some people to take a bribe and it was this woman [his wife] who delivered me and delivered Ghanaians. I was very confused and I didn’t know what to do but I called her and told her.
“My wife said: ‘Richard, I love you not because of your money, so don’t get tempted by this offer to lose your dignity and credibility’.”
Ghana went on to win the match 2-0 (as you can see in the video above).
