New football prediction website Betegy helps you plan your betting

A new prediction website has been launched which aims to help you plot your football betting.

Betegy uses an algorithm to determine the most likely outcome of the top European leagues. OTP took a look at the Premier League predictions for last weekend… and at first we were only partially impressed.

Following the Betegy predictions would have led you to pick three correct results at the weekend. And if you’d been guessing the score, they would have correctly guided you to a 1-1 draw in the match between Sunderland and Liverpool.

Not bad, but still not setting the world alight.

But it gets a bit more impressive if you dig below the surface. Take the Stoke City vs Manchester City game. Betegy predicted a 1-2 win for the champions: wrong result and wrong score. But look at the finer details and it’s closer than you might think. Betegy said there was a 37% chance of a Man City win, but the draw was only just behind that at 35%.

And what about the score? They said there was a 27% chance of Roberto Mancini’s side winning the match 2-1. And if they had to plump for a second choice? The 1-1 draw (22%).

Another interesting feature is the little icons highlighting ‘Recommended Bet’ (put your money on the heavy favourite), ‘Extreme Bet’ (take a punt on the supposedly weaker team) and ‘Double Bet’ (back both evenly-matched teams). Bread-and-butter stuff for hardened gamblers, perhaps, but a nice feature nonetheless.

The team behind Betegy reckons that the algorithm will predict around 60% of extreme bets correctly. That was not backed up by our snapshot looking at the Premier League on one weekend, but since it’s still available in free beta mode at the moment we’ll keep a close eye on it over the coming weeks to see how the predictions go.

Check them out for yourself on the Betegy website or Facebook app.
