Real Madrid beat Levante 2-1 on Sunday with a late goal from Morata sparing Real’s blushes on a pitch that was more viable as a water polo match.

However, the highlight of the game (or eyelight, if you will. I’m actually sorry) came early on when Levante’s David Navarro smashed Cristiano Ronaldo in the eye with his elbow.

In fairness, it was a pretty grim injury, with the forward looking like some thing out of a horror film when the camera panned to him on the floor. It actually forced him to be substituted at half time after losses of vision during the first half, but Ronaldo still managed to give his side the lead after 21 minutes.

That’s why he’s better than me, because I would have cried for ages and gone home.
