Rapid Bucharest sack every foreign player in order to save money
Rapid Bucharest are a side in financial turmoil, and they have taken a fairly extraordinary stance in order to ease their woe.
Having filed for insolvency last month, the club have now announced that every single foreign player at the club would be dispensed with, leaving just a side of local players. This is in an effort to reduce the massive debts spent on overseas wages, a debt threatening to force the revoking of the club’s licence to play in Romania’s top league.
Manager Danut Perja was fairly clear on the matter: “We renounce all foreigners. All of them will receive the documents under which their contract are terminated unilaterally by email.”
The players that will leave the club are as follows, for those fancying the January sales:
Blaze Ilijoski – Macedonia
Pecanha – Brazil
Wallace – Brazil
Glauber – Brazil
Renan – Brazil
Figueiredo – Brazil
Rui Duarte – Portugal
Filipe Teixeira – Portugal
Milos Pavlovic – Serbia
Nemanja Milisavljevic – Serbia
Vladimir Bozovic – Montenegro
That’s a hell of a redundancy plan!
