Chelsea attempt to have billboard mocking Fernando Torres removed
Chelsea have failed in their attempts to have a billboard mocking misfiring striker Fernando Torres removed.
The poster is part of a series of Paddy Power adverts focusing on under-performing Premier League imports. Backed by a TV campaign, the adverts suggest the players should seek alternative employment until they start pulling their weight on the pitch.
The Torres version, situated on a billboard near Stamford Bridge, reads: “Fernando, we’ve got an onion bag you can actually find. It’s in the burger van mate. Get your hair net on.”
Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin, West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie, Aston Villa’s Darren Bent and QPR’s Jose Bosingwa have been targeted by similar campaigns outside their respective stadiums.
Chelsea attempted to have the poster removed on image rights grounds, but failed because it is not on their property.
