Chelsea and Aston Villa to meet in NextGen Series Champions League final
English teams may have under-performed in the Champions League final this season, with no representative from Blighty in the quarter final of Europe’s premier cup competition.
However, fear not. It may be something rather tenuous to cling to, but the future looks a lot safer. The NextGen Series pits together U19 teams from some of Europe’s biggest clubs in a mission to crown the European youth champions.
The semi-finals took place yesterday, and the above video shows Chelsea beating Arsenal in extra-time.
The Blues will meet fellow Premier League side Aston Villa, who saw off Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, also in extra-time.
So, is this a false dawn, or do we have reason for serious optimism? Aston Villa fans will certainly hope so.
