Spurs star Gareth Bale attempts to trademark ‘heart’ goal celebration
Gareth Bale has applied to trademark his mildly irritating heart gesture goal celebration.
The Tottenham star, who’s flashed his heart celebration 26 times already this season, wants to put a logo based on his celebration on shoes, hats, bags, umbrellas and jewellery.
A filing at the Intellectual Property Office lists the trademark’s owner is listed as “Gareth Bale” courtesy of “The Stellar Group Limited”, a sports management company.
The trademark was filed on March 26. The full list of goods for which the logo would be trademarked are: “Precious metals and their alloys and goods in precious metals or coated therewith, not included in other classes; jewellery, precious stones; horological and chronometric instruments, parts and fittings for the aforesaid goods.
“Leather and imitations of leather, and goods made of these materials and not included in other classes; animal skins, hides; trunks and travelling bags; umbrellas, parasols and walking sticks; whips, harness and saddlery.
“Clothing, footwear and headgear.”
The logo that was submitted, featuring the gesture and Bale’s squad number, is shown above.
