Dwight Yorke backs Spurs and Chelsea to challenge Man Utd for the title
Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke reckons Spurs and Chelsea will be contenders as his old club seek to defend the Premier League title next season.
Yorke couldn’t bring himself to name Manchester City, but said that United’s “noisy neighbours” would also “definitely” challenge for the title.
The ex-Trinidad and Tobago international said he expected Jose Mourinho’s return to spur Chelsea on, and thinks ever improving Tottenham also pose a threat.
He said: “I think in terms of, you know, our noisy neighbours, so to speak, they will definitely be a challenge, you’ve some fantastic players, a new manager is installed into that football club as well, so a lot is expected of them. So we expect them from having a disappointing season, we expect them to try and bounce back as quickly as possible.
“Also with Mourinho coming, coming back to his old club, you know there is a big hype there, you know he’s a big personality, he gets the best out of his players. We expect Chelsea to pushing a lot more closely and Tottenham has done a fantastic job, you can’t rule them out.”
