New Southampton signing Victor Wanyama gives his first interview after move from Celtic
There may have been strong competition from Cardiff, but Southampton have finally got their man. After spending £12m on Gaston Ramirez last summer, the Saints are again splashing the cash in order to try and kick on from their survival last season.
They have signed Victor Wanyama for £12.5million from Celtic in a transfer which is a club record for Southampton and also a record fee received by a Scottish club. It really is fantastic work by Celtic to get such a fee for a player they bought for just £900,000 two years ago.
The Kenyan international has also given his first interview since joining the club. “There were other options, but Southampton is a club with ambitions so I chose to come here.”
You’re damn right they’re being ambitious Victor.
