What’s the deal?
This was done and dusted back in February, but has only just been formally completed. He has signed a contract that runs until 2018.

The Chile Under-20 full-back, fresh from reach the quarter-finals of the Under-20 World Cup, is being pencilled in as the heir to Ashley Cole’s first-team slot, although he can also operate as a left winger. He made just 10 appearances for excellently named Chilean side O’Higgins.

What do they say?

“I have to get there, to do pre-season and then see what they do with me: if I stay or if I will be sent on loan to a smaller team. But yes, I am willing to go on loan. What I most want is to play and adapt as fast to add minutes and does not cost me much if I return to Chelsea.

“From Chelsea, I really like Ashley Cole. I always liked his style, his way of playing. Now I really like Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, who has a similar style. I look a bit like them.”
