David Ginola: ‘Gareth Bale transfer situation is not simple’
Former Spurs favourite David Ginola says the situation regarding Gareth Bale’s future at the club is not simple.
The Frenchman said he and other people who love Spurs were desperate to see the Welshman remained at the club, but acknowledged the situation was out of the fans’ control and that they would have to wait to see where Bale is playing his football at the start of the season.
He said: “Football is about speculation. Especially when you talk about the transfer window and players like that who are expected to stay or to leave and you don’t know and you are asking yourself that question.
“Well, for us, for the people who really love Spurs, we would love to see Gareth playing for next season, playing for Spurs next season. But it’s not up to us. Things in life are not as simple and we’ll see.”
Ex-captain Ledley King also said he couldn’t be 100 per cent sure that Bale would stay at White Hart Lane, but expected him to based on their conversations.
King said: “If you ask me 100 per cent about myself, then that’s something I can answer. I can’t answer for anyone else.
“I’m not 100 per cent anyway. But speaking to him at the end of last season and from what I gather, he is in a good place at the moment and just keen to get fit and play some football and get the season started.”
