Chelsea launch bid for Brazilian defender Doria
Chelsea have made a £8.1m bid for Botafogo central-back Doria, according to reports in the Brazilian media.
An article in Lancenet suggests that the Blues want to add the 18-year-old defender to their considerable Brazilian contingent, which already includes Oscar, David Luiz, Ramires, Lucas Piazon and Wallace.
The reports suggest that the Blues made the offer via agent Carlos Meinberg Neto, who is also the agent of playmaker Oscar.
Porto, Benfica, Juventus and Barcelona are also believed to have made bids for the player, who’s dubbed the next Thiago Silva, while Tottenham are said to be monitoring his situation.
Chelsea have demanded a response from Botafogo by Friday evening.
