Newcastle aim to bring Loic Remy on loan from QPR
Newcastle are hoping to sign QPR striker Loic Remy on a season-long loan deal, according to reports in The Chronicle.
The Magpies seemed destined to capture the Frenchman in January until the R’s swooped in with a very attractive salary package to win the race for his signature.
Relegation to the Championship means both club and player would be happy to part company. But that huge pay-packet means Harry Redknapp’s side will now struggle to offload the 26-year-old. Any club prepared to match Remy’s salary are unlikely to want to pay QPR’s valuation of their star striker.
The Toon’s interest in Remy has been reignited by Lyon’s haggling over fellow French striker Bafetimbi Gomis. They have now stepped back from that deal – at least temporarily – to pursue other options.
