Video: Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse scores in his Wonga shirt
Papiss Cisse marked his first match wearing Newcastle’s controversial Wonga-sponsored kit with a goal against St Mirren.
The Senegalese striker missed the club’s pre-season tour to Portugal after refusing to wear the payday loan company’s logo on his shirt. The 29-year-old said the firm’s business model was against his Islamic faith.
After performing a U-turn, Cisse wore the shirt for the first time in the Magpies’ 2-0 win yesterday evening.
And the Toon Army would have been delighted to see it didn’t impact Cisse’s ability to score classy goals.
