Spurs ready to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £100m plus Alvaro Morata
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly asked Real Madrid for a list of potential part-exchange candidates after accepting he will have to sell Gareth Bale this summer.
Levy is now resigned to losing the 24-year-old, who yesterday told manager Andre Villas Boas that he wants to leave the club but doesn’t want to formally request a transfer.
His preference is to bring highly-rated forward Alvaro Morata to White Hart Lane in £100m plus players deal, reports The Guardian.
Real will be keen to keep their 20-year-old striker. They sold Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli on the basis that Morata would be playing an increasingly important role this season. But they may decide to let him go if it smooths over the Bale deal.
Levy is also interested in Fabio Coentrao. Striker and left-back are arguably Spurs’ two biggest problem positions at the moment, so solving one or both as part of the Bale transfer would provide some consolation.
