Crystal Palace sign Marouane Chamakh from Arsenal
Arsenal flop Marouane Chamakh has joined Premier League new boys Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.
The Morocco international had been expected to move to Selhurst Park on a season-long loan, but instead he has completed a permanent move and signed a one-year contract with the Eagles.
Chamakh joined the Gunners on a free transfer from Bordeaux in 2010. He scored regularly in his first season at the club – albeit his form was patchy – but has struggled to hold down a spot in the team over the last two seasons.
He went on loan to West Ham for the second part of the last campaign, but didn’t manage to make an impression at Upton Park.
The 29-year-old left with a message of good luck from the Gunners.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Marouane for his contribution to the club and wish him well with the Eagles.”
