Spanish media stalk Tottenham’s Gareth Bale on Wales duty
Reporters from two Spanish newspapers have been tasked to follow Gareth Bale while he’s on international duty with Wales.
Journalists from AS and Marca are both at the Newport base of Chris Coleman’s squad to keep tabs on the Real Madrid transfer target.
The Tottenham star will not feature in Wales’ friendly against the Republic of Ireland and has been training alone. But that didn’t stop both reporters getting face-to-face with Bale.
The 24-year-old would not talk to them.
Marca’s Juan I. Garcia-Ochoa quotes Bale as telling him: “I’m sorry, I can’t speak.”
More tantalisingly, Marco Ruiz of AS reckons he said: “Now is not the time to talk.”
Both reporters accept that Bale does have a genuine injury at the moment, while Ruiz says the player is in good spirits.
