Arsenal consider bids for Swansea’s Michu and Man City’s Edin Dzeko as Luis Suarez alternatives
Arsenal are weighing up bids for Michu and Edin Dzeko as they prepare to accept that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will not join them this summer.
With the Reds resolute in their determination not to sell to a Premier League rival, the Gunners are starting to look elsewhere for new striking options.
The Daily Mirror reports that last season’s bargain buy Michu, of Swansea, is on Arsene Wenger’s radar. Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is a player that Arsene Wenger has scouted for years and is also a possible alternative to Suarez as the Gunners seek to bolster their attack.
Wenger is a long-term admirer of both players. Suarez remains his top target but, having missed out on the likes of Stevan Jovetic and Gonzalo Higuain to concentrate on signing the Uruguayan star, he is now considering other targets.
Dzeko is likely to find himself on the fringes at City once again this season, so he could perhaps be persuaded to become the top striker at another Premier League and Champions League club. Michu would be more of a gamble, but is likely to cost less.
