Newcastle boss Pardew: No second bid from Arsenal for Yohan Cabaye
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew says the club has not received a second offer from Arsenal for Yohan Cabaye.
The Magpies rejected a £10m offer for the French midfielder at the start of the week. According to Pardew, the Gunners have not returned with an improved bid.
The Toon boss’ comments also indicate that reports suggest that PSG had made a bid for Cabaye are wide of the mark.
He told the Hartlepool Mail: “The situation with Yohan is ongoing.
“We’ve had one bid, and we’ve turned it down. That’s all I can comment on with Yohan.”
Pardew also confirmed that he and director of football Joe Kinnear had this week met Newcastle owner Mike Ashley in the south of France to plan for their remaining transfer activity for the summer.
He added: “I was there to see the owner.
“We wanted to make sure we get ourselves a gameplan for the final week [of the transfer window].”
