Manchester United have joined Arsenal in the race for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish daily Marca claims that French side PSG are also interested in signing the Argentina international.
The reports suggest that Di Maria’s preference is to stay at the Bernabeu and that manager Carlo Ancelotti would also like him in the squad for his first season in charge.
But at boardroom level it has been decided that the 25-year-old will be surplus to requirements once Gareth Bale arrives and the club’s directors have resolved to recoup a large chunk of Bale’s transfer fee by selling Di Maria.
Arsenal had already been widely expected to bid for the former Benfica star this summer, but David Moyes’ Manchester United are now linked with a move, too.
Given the level of interest in the player, Real believe they can command a fee of £34m for him.
