Tottenham midfielder Sandro: ‘Only the Champions League will do’
Spurs midfielder Sandro says only Champions League qualification is good enough this season.
He believes the club’s summer signings mean they are better equipped than ever to secure a place in Europe’s premier club competition.
He said: “Obviously we lost a great player in Gareth Bale, but of course Andre has also bought a lot of good players.
“Our team is very strong, and our goal is to be in the Champions League because the last two years we were just one point away.
“So I repeat, our goal is the Champions League and nothing else. And this year we are in a condition to give it everything.”
The Brazil international is now in a much better condition personally than he was at the end of last season. He has now recovered from the knee injury that wiped out the second-half of the campaign for him.
Of his injury, he said: “Of course, if you don’t play, it becomes more complicated. But I’m just focusing on myself.
“I will work to be 100 per cent fit, and after this, I will fight for a place in the team. I’ve done that for all my life, always fighting for a place and to achieve my goals, and I will keep fighting.”
