Nicklas Bendtner hails ’emotional’ Arsenal return
Nicklas Bendtner managed an assist and converted a penalty as he made his return to the Arsenal first-team.
The Dane scored from the spot during a shoot-out win for the Gunners against West Brom in last night’s Capital One Cup tie.
And the striker said he had been moved by the reception he received from supporters.
After the match he wrote on Instagram: “Very emotional return, but what better way than with a win!
“Fans was absolutely incredible throughout the game and help us in difficult periods.
“For myself I was very moved by my reception and hearing my song again made my heart skip!
“Young players did ever so well and kept there cool in a difficult penalty shootout. Respect! Skipper looking fresh!”
Bendtner set-up Thomas Eisfeld for the Gunners’ only goal in a 1-1 draw, then scored their first penalty in the shootout.
