Liverpool could swoop for PSG midfielder Javier Pastore
Liverpool are being linked with a move for unsettled PSG midfielder Javier Pastore.
The Argentine was briefly the poster-boy of the French side’s new spending power when he arrived from Palermo for £36.7m in 2011.
But he has not really impressed since then and now faces stiff competition from Marco Veratti and Blaise Matuidi for a place in Laurent Blanc’s midfield.
The 24-year-old was linked with a move in the summer and could now jump ship in January. His agent has been making it clear that Pastore is not happy in Paris.
Marcelo Simonian said: “In football there are always ups and downs.
“He has been happy there, but now is not the time for nostalgia. We will see what happens in the next few months.”
AC Milan and Napoli would also be interested in signing Pastore, but Liverpool believe they can secure the deal for £17m.
Brendan Rodgers is said to have been tracking the player for months.
