Kevin De Bruyne axed by Chelsea and sent to train with the youth team
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has dropped Kevin De Bruyne for this week’s Champions League clash with Steaua Bucharest and forced him to train with the club’s under-21 squad.
The Daily Mail reports that the Blues boss was less than impressed with the Belgian’s efforts in the Capital One Cup tie against Swindon Town last week.
He was subsequently left out of the squad to face Spurs on Sunday and has now been told he must train with the youngsters for the next three days.
The 22-year-old is said to be unhappy with his treatment. He turned down permanent moves to Borussia Dortmund in the summer after impressing on loan in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.
Mourinho convinced him he was part of his plans at Stamford Bridge and the winger decided to stay put.
He impressed in pre-season and started the Premier League opener against Hull, but has since lost his place in the team.
Concerned for his place in Belgium’s World Cup squad, De Bruyne could seek a transfer in January if he is still out-of-favour.
