Tottenham weigh-up move for Swansea left-back Ben Davies
Spurs are considering a bid for Swansea left-back Ben Davies, according to media reports.
The 20-year-old Wales international has been consistently excellent since breaking into the Swans first-team during Neil Taylor’s long-term injury layoff.
Taylor was linked with moves to some of the Premier League big boys before picking up his injury, but Davies is now keeping him out of the team.
Left-back is arguably still the weakest position in Andre Villas Boas’ Spurs squad. While he has cast aside the unfavoured Benoit Assou Ekotto, he only has Danny Rose – who is currently injured – and Kyle Naughton at his disposal.
While Rose was impressive on-loan at Sunderland last season, neither player has really proven that they are at the level that Tottenham aim to reach this season.
Davies has proven to be sound in defence and a threat going forward in the Premier League, and would fit in well to the Spurs style of play.
Swansea have shown a determination to keep their best players amid considerable interest from Premier League rivals in recent months.
It remains to be seen whether that will be the case with Davies or whether they feel that, with Taylor waiting in the wings, left-back is a position in which they can afford to cash-in.
