Liverpool target Tottenham star Gylfi Sigurdsson
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing Tottenham’s Gylfi Sigurdsson to Anfield.
While the Iceland international is an integral part of the team right now, including scoring Spurs’ goal against Chelsea at the weekend, Rodgers isn’t convinced he will get regular football once the dust settles on Andre Villas Boas’ summer signings.
The 24-year-old previously worked with Rodgers at Swansea, and came close to joining him at Liverpool before he joined Spurs.
The Reds will now monitor the situation ahead of a possible January bid for the midfielder, according to media reports.
Rodgers is short of a playmaker, especially with Philippe Coutinho injured at the moment. His failed summer moves for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Willian indicate that he is actively looking for someone to play in that position.
He knows what he can expect from Sigurdsson, who bagged seven goals in their 18 games together with the Swans..
