Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez could be set to team-up with former Magpies boss Chris Hughton at Norwich.
The Argentina international has been out-of-favour at St James’ Park this season and has now taken to Twitter to suggest his time on Tyneside is up.
He wrote: “It was an honour and a pleasure to play with the Newcastle shirt and to have the support of the Geordies.
“Thanks for the messages. I enjoy my five years at the club, I hope the club finish the highest this season and the best to my team-mates.”
Gutierrez has been at Newcastle for five years since joining from Mallorca.
He is out-of-contract in the summer but reportedly has a clause that entitles him to an extension. It appears the Magpies don’t want to take up that option and will attempt to offload him during the current transfer window.
Certainly Gutierrez’s comments suggest he believes he has played his last game for the club.
