‘Sick in bed’ Robin Van Persie is a doubt for Man Utd’s trip to West Brom
Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie is set to miss Holland’s game against France this evening through illness – and is now a doubt for his side’s game at West Brom on Saturday.
The Dutchman is “sick in bed”, according to Holland boss Louis Van Gaal, and was unable to train yesterday.
Van Gaal admits Van Persie was due to start against France tonight, but acknowledges that is now unlikely.
And with United’s game at the Hawthorns kicking off at 12.45pm on Saturday, he is now a doubt for that game, too. With recovery time at a minimum, he faces a face against the clock to get over his illness and get back onto the training pitch before the clash with the Baggies.
Swansea’s Michel Vorm and Hamburg’s Rafael Van Der Vaart have pulled out of the Holland squad through illness, but Van Gaal denied there was anything contagious being passed between his players.
He said: “They all have different symptoms.
“The doctor has assured me that the problems with the sick players do not affect each other. One has problems with his stomach and the other does not.”
