Images: Liverpool’s planned redevelopment of Anfield
Anfield will look like the image above by 2018 if Liverpool are able to proceed with a planned redevelopment of their stadium.
The Reds have spent years mulling over possible ways to increase their capacity, including building a new stadium, ground-sharing with Everton and expanding Anfield.
They currently favour the latter option, as this leaked image shows.
The £150m redevelopment would see the capacity increase to almost 60,000. The existing Main Stand is expected to remain remain, with the roof being removed and two new extra tiers added.
All the work will be completed around the other stands to avoid matchday revenue being lost.
An application for planning permission is expected to be submitted to Liverpool City Council before the end of the season. The scheme is dependent on 71 houses around Anfield being demolished, with deals already in place to purchase 67 of those affected.
The council could seek compulsory purchase orders for the remainder.
