Luka Modric wades in on Tottenham team selections
Real Madrid star Luka Modric has stirred things up at former club Tottenham by suggesting that Sandro – and possibly Heurelho Gomes – should be playing more often.
The Croatia international left White Hart Lane under a bit of a cloud to move to the Bernabeu but has been conversing with his former team-mates via social media.
Writing to Sandro and Gomes, he said: “I miss u two… Jogamuito.”
Jogamuito means play more in Portuguese, Sandro and Gomes’ first language.
He added: “Tell Tim to play you more. Spurs miss Beast in the middle.”
Midfielder Sandro has found opportunities limited under manager Tim Sherwood. He recently took to Twitter to point out that he wasn’t injured ahead of a game.
Sherwood responded in an interview by saying that, although he wasn’t injured, Sandro wasn’t good enough to make the team on current form.
Gomes has faded from the first-team picture almost entirely. He is now behind Hugo Lloris, Brad Friedel and, arguably, Jordan Archer in the goalkeeper pecking order.
