Man Utd target Toni Kroos admits his future is in limbo
Germany midfielder Toni Kroos has admitted he is no clearer as to where his future lies.
The 24-year-old says he is no closer to signing a new deal with Bayern Munich than he was when he left for the World Cup. His negotiations with the Bundesliga champions have been in deadlock for some time.
He was one of Manchester United’s top summer targets heading into the transfer window. Although he is still on their radar, United’s interest has cooled slightly since Louis Van Gaal was confirmed as their new manager.
The Dutchman is thought to have higher priority midfield targets, but Kroos remains an option.
He is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2015, but Bayern could cash-in this summer if it becomes clear that agreement on a new deal will not be forthcoming.
Kroos’ team-mates Philipp Lahm and fellow United target Thomas Muller both recently signed new deals. But the midfielder has rejected Bayern’s offer, and the club have not shown an appetite to meet his salary demands.
Speaking at Germany’s press conference ahead of their World Cup clash with Ghana, Kroos said: “There’s nothing new to report.
“With respect to the time before the World Cup, nothing at all has changed.
“If anything does happen, then you will all find out. Congratulations to Philipp and Thomas for their decisions and extensions.”
