Arsenal ready to sign Atletico’s Josuha Guilavogui
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign a defensive midfielder before the start of the new season and wants to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Josuha Guilavogui, according to reports.
Signing the player is likely to set Arsenal back £11.5m for the flop but they face competition from German side Wolfsburg.
The Gunners have been searching Europe for defensive midfielders this summer with Wenger still rating Guilavogui despite his troubles in Spain – with the Frenchman set to make his move, The Metro reports.
Sami Khedira and William Carvalho have been the names consistently linked with the Gunners but they would cost significantly more than Guilavogui.
Gianluca Di Marzio says Wenger is now ready to sign the 23-year-old, who has been put up for sale by La Liga champions Atletico.
The Spanish club only signed him from Saint Etienne last year but after his problems on the pitch ended up back on loan there.
