Tottenham winger Andros Townsend is facing an uncertain future as the club refuse to entertain the idea of selling him to Southampton, who are equally keen to hang on to Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports.

Spurs have been desperate to land Schneiderlin, who has been linked with Arsenal, this summer but it appears Saints will not back down, unless the Londoners relent on Townsend.

The stand off looks like having serious consequences for Townsend, though, who is not in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans after he was left out of the squad at the weekend, according to the Telegraph.

Spurs received an offer of £12m for the England player while the White Hart Lane outfit bid around the same for Saints’ Frenchman, though the south coast club value him at double that.

QPR have made an enquiry for Townsend but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to sell the 23-year-old, while appearing to rate the attacker more than his manager.

Nacer Chadli, Aaron Lennon, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen are all ahead of Townsend in the pecking order, leaving him questioning his Spurs future.
