Lille continue to insist Divock Origi will not join Liverpool in January
Lille have once again insisted Divock Origi will not join Liverpool in January despite the Anfield club’s striking woes.
The Reds signed the forward over the summer and then loaned him straight back to the French club for the season.
But the damaging absence of Daniel Sturridge and poor form of his strikers has led to reports Rodgers will call the player back early from the French club.
But Lille boss Rene Girard says the player is going nowhere until next summer. “There are no worries with regards to Divock Origi,” he said. “He is with us and will be until the end of the season, as we expected.”
Last week Rodgers poured cold water on Origi coming to the club earlier than planned. “What chance is there of bringing Origi in January? Well I don’t think there is any,” he said.
“That was never the case. The young player that we signed last summer was always on that understanding. There was no discussion about it, it was one where he had to stay at Lille.”
