Brendan Rodgers insists Raheem Sterling will stay at Liverpool and sign a new deal despite his deafening silence on putting pen to paper.

The 20-year-old is thought to be unhappy with the new offer on the table which would seem him earn £70,000 a week.

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City are all said to be keen on the England star.

But Rodgers says despite the interest he has no worries Sterling will leave Anfield.

“Hopefully that won’t be the case, [Sterling thinking about a move],” he said.

“We are a club trying to build something. We were on a path for a couple of years and, of course, we’ve had to come off that path since the summer, to regroup again, really.

“I’m quite relaxed about it. I’m sure we can get a deal done. He’s the type of boy, he leaves his representatives to work with the club in order to hopefully organise the deal. He has no real influence in that.”
