David Gold ‘hopeful’ Winston Reid will turn down Arsenal and Spurs

West Ham co-owner David Gold says he is “hopeful” that star centre-back Winston Reid will turn down a potential move to Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur.
The New Zealand international is out of contract at the end of the season and has looked likely to head for the Upton Park exit in the summer after turning down a series of contract offers from the Hammers.
Spurs and the Gunners are both rumoured to be keen to land Reid on a free transfer at the end of his contract, with a switch to White Hart Lane seeming most likely in recent weeks.
But asked about rumours that the 26-year-old is now close to extending his stay at the east London side, Gold hinted that there might be some truth in those suggestions.
Writing to a supporter on Twitter, he said: “I am hopeful that Winston will sign for us.”
