Manuel Pellegrini contradicts Yaya Toure’s agent over transfer
Manuel Pellegrini has contradicted the claims of Yaya Toure’s agent that he will leave the club this summer.
The 31-year-old’s agent revealed that Toure was “90 per cent certain” to leave the Etihad club this summer with him linked with moves to Inter Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain.
His performances this season have been criticised with him one of many under-performing players at City, who have badly flopped in their title defence.
Toure’s former boss Roberto Mancini had said he hopes his good relationship with the player would be enough to convince him to join Inter.
The Inter PR machine has continued to show no signs of abandoning the campaign to land the midfielder with various high profile members of the club continuing to talk up an impending transfer.
But despite the various noises suggesting Toure is set to leave City, Pellegrini has issued a defiant message with him saying the player does not want to leave the club.
“When you ask me around one month ago I always say that Yaya is very happy here,” Pellegrini told the media, as reported by Sky Sports News.
“That he doesn’t have any intention to go to another club. Maybe his agent is talking about other things, but the reality is that he will stay here with us.
“I am always talking with all the players. That is why I said that Yaya will stay here because I know the way he thinks.”
