Stoke City agree £12m fee with Inter Milan for Xherdan Shaqiri
Stoke City have struck a deal to sign Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri for £12m, according to Sky Sports/.
The report claims the Potters have reached an agreement with Inter Milan to sign the 23-year-old winger.
It is now up to Shaqiri to decide whether he wants to make the move, though it is unlikely that Mark Hughes’ side would have got to this stage without some indication that the deal was of interest to the player.
Shaqiri only arrived at San Siro in January, having fallen down the pecking order at Bayern Munich.
He is yet to fulfil the potential he showed when he was one of the world’s most highly-rated teenagers, with his bit-part role at Bayern stalling his development.
Shaqiri joined the Bavarian giants from Swiss side Basel for a reported €11.6m ahead of the 2012/13 season.
Inter snapped him up in the last transfer window, with Stoke attempting to land him at that stage.
The 5ft 6in playmaker played 20 games for Roberto Mancini’s side last season, scoring three goals in the process.
He has 17 goals in 46 caps for Switzerland.
