Jesus Navas relishing Man City signing Kevin De Bruyne
Jesus Navas has insisted he is not worried about Manchester City signing Kevin De Bruyne with him feeling as though he is an “important” player for the club.
The Spaniard has started all three of City’s games in the Premier League, which has seen them blow everyone away as they have stormed to the top of the table with three wins and no goals conceded.
But Manuel Pellegrini still wants to add to his squad despite the stand-out signings of Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi.
City have previously been said to have offered around £50m for De Bruyne who is weighing up his options after his incredible campaign last time out.
The Belgian, who only joined Wolfsburg last season, has constantly suggested he could move this summer.
But whether the current pace-setters in the topflight do manage to land the former Chelsea player remains to be seen but in any case Navas says he is not worried about losing his place if they do.
“I feel I’m a really important player within the squad and my duty now is to keep working hard to keep my place in the team – then the manager will decide,” said Navas according to the Mirror.
“I’m very focused and working really hard in training every day. This is the way I want to do things this season.
“The competition does not just keep me sharp – it’s everyone in the whole squad who has to perform to a high standard.
“It’s good to be competitive when everyone wants to be in the starting line-up.”
