Andrea Ranocchia expects Liverpool transfer
Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia is expected to make a transfer to Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
The Italy international centre-back, aged 27, was Inter’s captain last season, but has found himself in and out of Roberto Mancini’s side this term.
He is now set to make the switch to Anfield, with Mancini said to be keen to offload some players to make room for four reinforcements he hopes to bring to San Siro when the transfer window opens.
The report claims that new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a long-term admirer of Ranocchia and was previously keen to sign him during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
The Reds’ defence was frequently their undoing during Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers’ time in charge, so the German coach looks set to put his own mark on that area of the team as soon as possible.
Ranocchia started his career at Arezzo, before moving on to Genoa. He spent time on loan at Bari and signed for Inter in 2011.
