Cristiano Ronaldo thinks Man Utd can beat Man City to title
Cristiano Ronaldo has tipped Manchester United to beat leaders Manchester City to the title this season.
The former Red Devils idol, speaking ahead of the release of his new film, thinks his old side are in good hands under Louis van Gaal.
United have been accused of being boring but remain in the top four just three points behind their cross town rivals.
And while the Etihad outfit are favourites to land the title again, United have been tipped by Ronaldo to win their first crown since Sir Alex Ferguson left.
“Manchester is good this year. They are better. They are at the top so it’s good and it’s a club I like, everyone knows that,” he said, quoted by the Mirror.
“He’s a good coach, he did many good things and won many trophies for other clubs.
“What I expect is that Manchester can be champions in England. With Van Gaal, with all the players and staff, I wish them all the best.”
The Portuguese has been linked with a move to the Red Devils during the last year after saying he would like to play for the club again before he retires.
Recently he also said he would like to play with Wayne Rooney again, while his best friend Jose Semedo, who plays for Sheffield Wednesday, tipped him to make a return.
Ronaldo, while keeping his cards close to his chest, also said you “never know what can happen in football” when asked if he could rejoin his old side.
