Chelsea are in the hunt to land Manchester United target Sadio Mane following his impressive displays this season, the Mirror report.

United reportedly lodged a bid for the 23-year-old back in August as they looked to boost their attack but Southampton were in no mood to accept the offer.

Saints confirmed at the time there had been contact from United about signing the player but the south coast club said he was not available for transfer.

His incredible form though has seen his stock continue to rise with the attacker having scored six times in 17 appearances.

One of his best performances came against Chelsea in the 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge, which the report says alerted Blues boss Jose Mourinho to him.

Saints have yet to tie him to a new deal while boss Ronald Koeman admitted they would probably lose Mane at the end of the season.

“Maybe one day we will lose Mane but then we have to be prepared,” he admitted earlier in the season.

“You know in our situation that kind of player, if they play like today, there will come a lot of interest in the end of the season, but now we enjoy watching Mane in our team.”

It appears that United and Chelsea will now go head to head for the player, though Saints will be confident of hanging on to him until the summer at least.
