Liverpool approach QPR over Steven Caulker signing
Liverpool have approached Queens Park Rangers over a deal to take Steven Caulker on loan until the end of the season, according to The Guardian.
The 24-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Southamptom, but has struggled for first-team opportunities in Ronald Koeman’s side and has been linked with a return to Loftus Road.
It appears Liverpool will now encourage the Hoops to recall their defender before making their own offer to loan him for the second-half of the season.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are currently suffering a central defensive injury crisis. Dejan Lovren (hamstring), Mamadou Sakho (knee) and Martin Skrtel (hamstring) are all out at the moment, while Kolo Toure has also been carrying a slight hamstring problem.
Caulker started his career at Tottenham Hotspur. He moved to Cardiff City in an £8m deal in July 2013.
A year later and with the Bluebirds having been relegated, he transferred to QPR for an undisclosed fee. He signed a four-year contract, which runs until June 2018.
